Placing the schematica.zip into.minecraft/mods/ should work. Browse and download minecraft schematics maps by the planet minecraft community. This will download schematica's source into mcdev.
Download and install minecraft forge.
With schematica mod 1.12.2/1.11.2 you're able to display a ghost image of a schematic file inside minecraft to rebuild a structure or export any part of. Drag and drop the downloaded jar (zip) file into %appdata%/.minecraft/mods. Start minecraft and exit it (this will create the mods folder for you). When you launch minecraft and click the mods button you should now see the mod is installed.
